![]() And like with most games, you can download all of these mods for free and start playing right away.īut with so many mods out there, it can be difficult to figure out which ones are worth your time and which are just filler. It's been more than a decade since the game's original release, giving fans more than enough time to design thousands of unique mods. You can safely use the Workshop, but users need to be aware of it's limitations. There are few PC games out there with more mods than The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. In the end, I too prefer Nexus mods and use the NMM for managing my mods. But we all know Arthmoor has an extensive knowledge in modding and would do a proper handling of updating his mods. ![]() It has never broken my game and I'm always sure I have the most uptodate version of the patch. As another example I have the Unofficial Patch subscribed on the Workshop. To put it in another light, this "game breaking" can also happen from Nexus mods that require a new game.Īs an example even w/ my very limited knowledge in scripting, I know if I update a script in a mod that requires a new game, I would not update my mod on steam (instead you have to upload an entirely new mod entry). So it should only be a problem from mod authors that really have no idea what they're doing. I would think the only way updating a mod would break your game is if the mod requires a "new game - starting over" (ie: scrpting in mod was completely redone).
